George and Herman Brown founded Highland Resources, Inc. in the 1930’s. The Brown brothers also owned Brown & Root Construction, and Texas Eastern Corporation. Currently the ownership of Highland remains with the Brown’s heirs. Highland’s corporate office is in Houston, Texas

Highland is active in ownership of office buildings, retail centers, residential land development, commercial land development, and industrial park. Highland is actively converting its land holdings into income producing properties, and acquiring income producing properties.
